Preparation weekend in Lithuania

-30 C degrees outside, but very warm in our hearts.

Weekend in Lithuania for all members was exceptionally cold, but despite that everybody was there, in the cosy meeting room in Ratonda hotel, with laptops, coffee, tea and singing teacher.

All day of work, discussing and practising made everybody feel confident, that the long waited journey to Australia will be absolutely prepared for.

Some of dancing in the evening in the best club in Vilnius Tamsta made everybody see Vilnius as a wonderful place to spend a weekend.

The day Danish team went back to Denmark is 21st of the remaining days before the flight to Australia...

See you soon!

Kim Fuglsang

Team Leader
Age: 52
Vocations: Managing Director of the Fuglsang Malting and Brewery
Home: Haderslev, Denmark
Civil status: Married to Lene
Children: Three sons Nicolai (22), Oscar (20) and Victor (17)
Hobby: Sailing, rowing, singing

I grew up in Haderslev, Denmark. The school years were passed at our local German School. In our Capital, Copenhagen, I then was an apprentice in an international shipping company, studied international business and finally worked for a Scandinavian Supermarket Chain for 11 years in Copenhagen, California and Spain. Since my family roots are in the southern province of Jutland, very near to Germany, my wife and I returned to my home country Haderslev in 1993. Here our three sons grew up too.

Today I work in our family business, the Fuglsang Brewery and Malting. Although most of my time is spent at work, Rotary is also very important to me. Several years I have been responsible for a Short-Term-Summer Camp, where 10 young Europeans spend 2 weeks sailing on Denmark’s oldest wooden sailing ship.

My family spends weekends at our summer house on an island in the Baltic Sea. I like sailing and taking a hike in the beautiful nature. Also occasionally I do rowing on the lake we have in our town.

In wintertime, when it is cold and dark, I enjoy singing in a classical choir.

Diana Karpec

Team member
Age: 27
Home: Vilnius, Lithuania
Vocation: Medical doctor
Civil status: Not married. Yet.
Hobby: 1st line: travelling and dancing 2nd line: Books – music – movies
Moto: It‘s all about the tripple L: Love – Live – Laugh.

My name is Diana Karpec and I am 28 years old vegeterian from Lithuania.
I was born in Kaunas, the second biggest city of Lithuania, but at the moment I am studying/working /living in the capital of our country.
I am a resident of Rheumatology in Vilnius University Santariskiu Clinics and if I am lucky (and actually I am), I will become a specialized rheumatologist next year. Besides clinical work, I am involved actively in scientific research projects concerning systemic rheumatic diseases. So I will be learning all my life, I guess. And it makes me happy!
Talking about my leisure time, I could say I have got two biggest passions- travelling and dancing. These are the main factors I learn about life from. Every trip I make gives me unbelievable experience because of various situations as well as amazing people I meet. And dancing is the best tool to free my body, mind and soul. Personally I am fascinated with Lindy Hop dance at this period of life, but surely this style might change if I found the new attraction. I do really enjoy spending my spare time with my family and close friends. To my mind, the feeling of happiness grows when it is being shared.
